The village of Pórtugos visits Jardin de la Alpujarra
The heat of a summer's day in Andalucla may not always be the best time to visit a garden, the plants reach for the shade as much as the human visitors. So, in order to coincide with our village of Pórtugos who were holding a cultural week of activities we decided to keep the garden open until 21.30 on the evening of August 4th
About 80 people visited the garden during this day, and many treated themselves to a slice of courgette and marmalade cake with a glass of homemade lemonade - how refreshing!
In the evening, William tempted our visitors with his experimentation in "Smorging", based on the idea of the Danish smorgasbord. Five different tasty offerings were available to share, from a delighful serving of anchovy, blue cheese and mint with garlic and a squeeze of lemon juice served on a slice of date and walnut bread with a linseed topping, to the evening's favourite, a mouth watering arrangement of spinach, grilled pear, cranberry and hazelnut with a mustard dressing served on a slice of tomato and pumpkin seed bread. Now this is smorging!
The evening and the food went down well, so we are sure to plan a similar event in the future, watch out for the annoucement.
